Collaborative couples counseling
Look beyond the latest argument.
Most couples do not arrive because of one disagreement. They arrive because communication has broken down, familiar conflicts keep returning, or distance has replaced the sense of being on the same team.
Request a consultationThe pattern matters more than the topic
Recurring conflict often produces predictable roles: pursue and withdraw, criticize and defend, avoid and resent, or compete to be understood without either partner feeling heard. Over time, the pattern can lead to isolation, emotional or physical disconnection, damaged trust, or uncertainty about whether the relationship should continue.
We will examine the interaction beneath the latest argument rather than repeatedly litigating who was right.
A coordinated model
My approach combines individual support with coordinated couples sessions when appropriate. Individual meetings create room for honest reflection and accountability; couples sessions bring that work back into the relationship through clearer communication, more productive conflict, and concrete decisions.
At the outset, we discuss the goals of treatment, the role of individual meetings, and how information is handled. The work remains organized around the relationship.
Repair, clarity, or a responsible decision
Some couples want to rebuild. Others need to determine whether repair is possible. Counseling can support both without manufacturing certainty or preserving a relationship at any cost.
In-person sessions are available in Oregon City, with telehealth throughout Oregon and Washington. A complimentary consultation gives us a chance to discuss what you both need and how the work would begin.
